About this shaft

The Jupiter One Plus 5-wood shaft completes Steadfast Golf's Jupiter One Plus family for drivers and fairway woods. Steadfast says the Jupiter One Plus range is designed with torque and balance as the top priority, and describes its carbon fibre shafts as offering better durability, performance and feel than a typical graphite shaft.

It is available in five flexes and with tip adapters for most popular adjustable fairway woods, or raw with no adapter for club builders and glued hosels.

Why the 5-wood deserves attention

The 5-wood is one of the most versatile clubs in golf. With more loft than a 3-wood, it launches the ball higher and lands it more softly, making it a reliable choice for:

  • Long approach shots into par 5s and long par 4s.
  • Tee shots on short par 4s and long par 3s.
  • Shots from light rough, where its rounded head glides through the grass.
  • Replacing hard-to-hit long irons, especially for seniors, women and golfers with moderate swing speeds.

Because the 5-wood is often a "go-to" club, consistency matters. A shaft matched to your swing speed and to the rest of your woods helps you hit the same distance shot after shot.

Who it suits

  • Golfers who use a 5-wood instead of long irons. See hybrid golf clubs explained for how fairway woods and hybrids compare.
  • Seniors and women, with dedicated senior and ladies flexes. See golf for seniors and golf for women.
  • Golfers building a matched set of woods with the Jupiter One Plus driver and 3-wood shafts.

Choosing the right options

  1. Flex: usually the same as your driver and 3-wood. See the flex table in our shaft buying guide.
  2. Tip adapter: match your 5-wood head's manufacturer and generation, or choose Raw for a glued hosel or club-builder installation.
  3. Before you order: check length, grip and what is included on the retailer's listing.

Getting more from your 5-wood

Play the ball slightly forward of centre, make a smooth, sweeping swing and let the loft launch the ball. On the course, use the 5-wood when you need height and a soft landing from long range. For more, see how to choose the right club for every shot.

What to consider

  • Your 5-wood head: a shaft upgrade makes most sense in a head you already like.
  • Gapping: check the distance gap between your 3-wood, 5-wood and longest hybrid or iron.
  • Currency: prices are in US dollars; check delivery and any import duties outside the US.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 5-wood easier to hit than a 3-wood?

For most golfers, yes. The extra loft launches the ball higher, lands it more softly and is more forgiving from the fairway and light rough — which is why many golfers carry a 5-wood instead of a long iron.

Should my 5-wood have the same flex as my driver?

Usually. Matching flex through your woods keeps feel and ball flight consistent. Some golfers with moderate swing speeds prefer a slightly softer flex in their fairway woods to help launch the ball from the turf — try both if you can.

Is this shaft a good choice for seniors and women?

Yes — it is available in dedicated senior and ladies flexes, which suit the moderate swing speeds that often make a 5-wood such a useful club.
